Computerized Dentistry

What is computerized dentistry?

Reconstruction of part of teeth, individual or all teeth by making metal-free restorations (inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges) with the help of computer 3D system. Scanning the prepared tooth with a special camera, designing future prosthetic work (ceramic crown, ceramic fill-inlay, onlay) with the help of appropriate software and at the end of production in the machine (CNC milling machine), a clean aesthetic block is obtained, which with additional finesse (tinting and glazing) almost completely imitates nature.

Our team of experts at the Dental Polyclinic Bičakčić relies mostly on a methodology that allows you to become the proud owner of your new smile in just a few hours from the time you enter the office – with CAD / CAM dentistry. It is based on rapid and painless reconstruction of a part, individual or all teeth, by making metal-free ceramic restorations (fillings, crowns, bridges, veneers) with the help of a computer 3D system (CAD / CAM). The whole process takes place over a single visit.

Computerized dentistry in the service of patients

The materials used to make dental crowns in our dental laboratory are: metal ceramics, complete metal-free ceramics (E-max or Empress) and zircon. Metal-free, that is, fully ceramic crowns, are the pinnacle of modern dentistry that achieves high aesthetic results. To create dental flakes and create the perfect Hollywood smile, we use the finest metal-free ceramics that guarantee perfect naturalness and a beautiful appearance just like natural teeth.

Services in the field of computerized dentistry

CAD / CAM dental treatment consists of three stages. The first involves scanning the prepared tooth with a special intraoral scanner (Omnicam). This is followed by the process of designing future prosthetic work with the help of computer software (CAD), followed by the creation of a perfectly shaped replacement from a pure ceramic block that completely mimics a natural tooth.

Advantages of CAD / CAM Dentistry:

  • completely painless
  • keeps your gums
  • there is no need to take a toothprint
  • pure ceramics (no metal)
  • top quality
  • longevity
  • impeccable aesthetics

How many teeth can be scanned and repaired in a single visit?

All teeth, the problems on them and even the repair, are not the same. Therefore, it is difficult to answer this question unambiguously. The main factors limiting the duration of the visit are: the ability of the patient to keep his mouth open without undue effort, the ability to ensure painlessness (maximum amount of anesthesia – most often in surgical procedures) and the need for multi-faceted tooth treatment (most often in the treatment of root canals). Dental repair appointments usually do not last more than 2 hours, for the convenience of the patient. The exception is major prosthetic procedures. During this time it is often possible to do a lot of work.

Should teeth be scanned and repaired during pregnancy?

Of course. But it is advisable to make interventions in a number of short visits and to perform only medically necessary procedures. Everything else is better done after giving birth.

What are the stages of a dental scan at a dental clinic?

The first phase involves scanning the prepared tooth with a special intraoral oral scanner (Omnicam), followed by the second phase, which involves designing future prosthetic work using computer software (CAD). The final stage of the procedure involves the computerized fabrication of a perfectly shaped replacement made of pure ceramic block, which completely imitates the natural tooth.
